Tributes are being paid by friends and fellow musicians to the lead singer of an indie pop band whose legacy “will live on forever”. The Night Cafe announced the death of Sean Martin, 26, with an emotional and heartfelt Instagram post.
The band said they were “devastated” by Sean’s death.

The Night Cafe said: “Words can’t describe the pain we are feeling right now, we’re still struggling to process it all.”
“Sean was not just our band mate, he was our childhood best friend that we shared so many memories with before the band even started.”
“We made so many more memories along the way and achieved things we only dreamt of that we will cherish forever.”
“His memory will live on forever in our hearts and through the music he put out into the world for you all."
Formed in 2014, the band were still in secondary school when The Night Cafe started, made up of Martin (lead singer), Josh Higgins (guitarist), Arran O’Connell Whittle (bassist) and Carl Dillon (drummer).
They released their debut EP ‘Get Away From The Feeling’ in 2017, followed by their debut album ‘0151’ which was released in 2019.

The singer’s mother Catherine thanked fans for their messages.

In April 2022, Martin revealed he had been struggling with his health and would be having surgery, meaning the band had to take a short hiatus and pull out of a handful of shows with The Wombats.
Sean wrote at the time: “Thankfully though I’ve recently had a diagnosis which explains what been going on, but unfortunately it means I need to go into surgery next week (on my birthday).”
He added that the band were ‘wounded’ by the cancellation but they were excited to finally be able to move forward with nothing in their way.
The Night Cafe has asked everyone to respect the privacy of Sean’s family and friends during this difficult time.
We are sending all our love to Sean’s family and friends, and all those affected. ❤️
RIP SEAN MARTIN X
